FC Chippenham returned to the New Year with an emphatic 7 - 0 win over Wootton Bassett. There were slight concerns prior to the match as FCCY's goalkeeper Jess was not available. This left an awkward moment in the dressing room when the manager asked for volunteers to go in goal. Laura was selected for the first half followed by Amie for the second half.
The match kicked off with Wootton Bassett choosing to play with the wind at their backs. FCCY were playing into the wind. FCCY immediately took control of the match by the scruff of the neck and started moving the ball around. Wootton Bassett as usual were strong in defence, but FCCY kept the pressure up with shot after shot after shot. The inevitable came & FCCY took the lead. This was closely followed by a 2nd & FCCY went into half time with a desreved 2 - 0 lead. Wootton Bassett had not caused FCCY any problems and Laura came out of goal having only picked the ball up 4 or 5 times.
The 2nd half kicked off and was much the same as the 1st with FCCY dominating the play again. Wootton Bassett did have a bit more of the ball in this half than the first, but still did not manage to penetrate into the FCCY 18 yard box and did not cause Amie in goal any trouble. FCCY wnet on to win the match 7 - 0 with goals from Gemma (2), Kathryn (1), Emily (1) and Lucy (1). There was also an own goal by one of the Wootton Bassett players.
This result now puts FCCY U/15 Girls at the top of their League with 18 points out of a possible 21. FCCY have scored 31 goals and conceded only 3. Next week takes us just up the road to Springfield School in Calne to play Derry Hill; last year's League winners, but this season have yet to win a game. Kick-off is planned for 10am.
Looking forward to seeing as many parents as possible at the match to support your daughters and the team.
Attached is a recent team photo taken before Christmas with only little Jess missing
