Camber Sands 2009
FCCY Girls returned to Camber Sands over the weekend 10th - 13th April 2009 to enjoy their annual weekend away tour. This year's tour organisation seemed much smoother and with the hire of a minibus; the team were able to travel together.
On arrival at Camber the girls unpacked, sorted out who was sleeping where and then went off to the beach for a warm-up game of Beach Football. This was followed later by evening meal & time to explore Camber.
Saturday morning saw some of the team having a lie-in whilst others played Football tennis as a warm-up. Saturday afternoon brought forward the first half of their matches; 5 being played in all. The girls won 2, drew 2 & lost 1 setting themselves up with a reasnable chance of grabbing 2nd place the next day in their remaining 3 matches. The girls returned to Camber, showered & then straight out to Hastings to watch '17 Again' with Zac Efron.
Unfortunately they were not at their best the next morning & could only manage 1 draw & 2 losses placing us 5th out of 9 overall. This was slightly disappointing, but did not put a dampener on the remaining weekend. That eveing came the presentation, where Lee Sharp ex of Man Utd presented the girls with their participation trophies. One of the girls even took the opportunity to grab a quick hug with Lee.
After the presentation we ventured int Rye for a chinese takeaway to round off the weekend. e next morning the girls visited Tonbridge Wells for a bit of shopping therapy & then the long journey home, which saw them all asleep for at least an hour. BLISS!!!

FCCY scored 4 goals in the first half and a further six notched up in the second half coming out victorious winners at 10 - 0.

FC Chippenham 7 - 0 Wootton Bassett
FC Chippenham returned to the New Year with an emphatic 7 - 0 win over Wootton Bassett. There were slight concerns prior to the match as FCCY's goalkeeper Jess was not available. This left an awkward moment in the dressing room when the manager asked for volunteers to go in goal. Laura was selected for the first half followed by Amie for the second half.
The match kicked off with Wootton Bassett choosing to play with the wind at their backs. FCCY were playing into the wind. FCCY immediately took control of the match by the scruff of the neck and started moving the ball around. Wootton Bassett as usual were strong in defence, but FCCY kept the pressure up with shot after shot after shot. The inevitable came & FCCY took the lead. This was closely followed by a 2nd & FCCY went into half time with a desreved 2 - 0 lead. Wootton Bassett had not caused FCCY any problems and Laura came out of goal having only picked the ball up 4 or 5 times.
The 2nd half kicked off and was much the same as the 1st with FCCY dominating the play again. Wootton Bassett did have a bit more of the ball in this half than the first, but still did not manage to penetrate into the FCCY 18 yard box and did not cause Amie in goal any trouble. FCCY wnet on to win the match 7 - 0 with goals from Gemma (2), Kathryn (1), Emily (1) and Lucy (1). There was also an own goal by one of the Wootton Bassett players.
This result now puts FCCY U/15 Girls at the top of their League with 18 points out of a possible 21. FCCY have scored 31 goals and conceded only 3. Next week takes us just up the road to Springfield School in Calne to play Derry Hill; last year's League winners, but this season have yet to win a game. Kick-off is planned for 10am.
Looking forward to seeing as many parents as possible at the match to support your daughters and the team.

Happy New Year To All
Happy New Year to all & welcome back
The training has started again this new year with the first training being held on Thursday 8th January 2009. This was a promising start with 13 out of the 14 players at training. Only one player adrift & she is out for the foreseeable future with an arm injury.
FC Chippenham are playing a friendly match against Highworth Juniors this Sunday at Highworth. Highworth are in the Gloucester Girls League & are doing extremly well. This will be a challenge especially as we have the bare 11 players and are without both our star strikers.
For those of you looking forward to the Tournament season, our 6-a-side tournament will be held at Stanley Park on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th May 2009. Parents will be called upon to help out, so please put this date in your diary.
The season re-starts properly next weekend; 17th January 2009 with a home match against Wootton Bassett.
The Laserquest event for the girls went well just before Christmas. I have attached some photo's sent to me by one of the parents. Looks like some not very camera shy girls eh Naomi, Jasmine, Jess B & Hattie.
