Clash of the Titans

On a windswept afternoon at Stanley Park on Saturday 4th October 2008, FC Chippenham Girls U/15's took to the field to face their arch-rivals; Chippenham Town. All the girls knowing each other as on any other day they are friends or school mates, but on this day FCCY had to show them who was Boss.
From the first minute FCCY were in control of the game and using the wind to their advantage pushing deep into Chippenham Town territory. The very first attack came away with a goal from Lucy and two more followed in quick succession from Gemma & Lucy again to make it 3 - 0 after only 8 minutes. FCCY had control over the game and were keeping Chippenham Town pinned in their own half.
The FCCY girls had their heads up & kept pouring on the pressure. Their were good strong performances all over the field from all players in particular Lucy , Tamsin , Katherine & Gemma . The wingers Laura & Liza ran their socks off and created several chances for the forwards. Liza came away with a goal in the first half and Gemma added two more to earn herself her hat-trick.
Jess had little to do in the first half in goal. The half-time whistle came & must have been a huge relief to Chippenham Town, who were now 6 - 0 down.
The 2nd half brought about a change for FCCY as Chippenham Town started to push out of their half a bit more with the aid of the wind. FCCY defence were strong to this & kept Chippenham Town to long range efforts which did not trouble Jess in goal.
Within 5 minutes from the kick-off Lucy added a 7th goal giving her, her hat-trick. Chippenham Town then held off FCCY for a lengthy period of time as neither team could break through. Their was good running and determination from Laura, Hattie & Liza on the wings. One particular run from Liza arising from a pass from Naomi lead Liza to score the goal of the match giving FCCY an 8 - 0 lead. This brace by Liza has meant that her embarrassing photo has now been removed from the website.
The final score being 8 - 0 to FC Chippenham with 2 excellent hat-tricks from Lucy & Gemma and a splendid brace from Liza. Player of the match and the bag of Haribo went to Lucy. Well Done FCCY.

Start of the Campaign

Saturday 27th September 2008 finally saw the start of FC Chippenham U/15 Girl's campaign to take the 2008 / 2009 season by storm. Unfortunately Derry Hill could only field 9 players and conceded the match before a ball had even been kicked. FC Chippenham get the 3 points win, but to what cost with other teams struggling for players.

A friendly match took place instead with FC Chippenham fielding a sporting 9 players with 5 subs. The scoreline of 4 - 0 did not really do justice to FCCY as they dominated the game throughout. Derry Hill did have a couple of breakaway chances, but these were defended well and came to nothing. The girls in blue have started well and need to keep the results flooding in.

If anyone has any photo's they wish to go on the website ensure you email Mark to arrange this.
